About Us
Dr. Sherri Mellskog received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She also earned a BS in Animal Science from the University and a BA in Biology and Equestrian Science from Stephens College. She is a memeber of the Knoxville Veterinary Academy and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She moved to Knoxville in 1993 with her husband William Thomas who is also a veterinarian and is on staff at the College of Veterinary Medicine. She breeds and raises Trakehner horses. She has two daughters, ages eleven and four. Adding to her family is a yellow lab named Tanner, a Jack Russell named Clover and a cat named Shadow. They all reside with 14 horses on a 44 acre farm. When she finds some spare time she likes to spend time with her kids, horseback ride, and swim.

Mary Boyd is head receptionist and Dr. Sherri's "right hand person". She is originally from North Carolina and graduated with a degree in biology. She is married 32 years to Jim who is the Circulation Director at the Knoxville News Sentinel. She has two sons, Harris, a firefighter/paramedic here in Knoxville and Andrew, who works for a local engineering firm. She is very active in her church, singing in the choir and currently serving as an elder and co-chair of the Christian Education Committee. She has a Basset Hound Daisy, and a grey cat named Sydney-both are rescued pets.

Katrina Marshall is originally from Livingston, TN, which is located on the Cumberland Plateau. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Katrina is a licensed Vet Technician and loves working with animals. She has three cats of her own whose names are Sunny, Stormy and Felix. In her spare time she enjoys reading, playing sports, painting and doing anything that involves being at the lake.

Gay Hummel is a professional groomer. She was born in Texas and raised in New Orleans, LA. She has always had a special place in her heart for animals, she has owned dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, skunks, and horses. She went to grooming school in Gretna, LA. She has been grooming for 29 years. Twenty of those years has been in West Knoxville. She has been married to her husband, who she adores, for 21 years. She is the proud parent of a son and daughter along with one terrific grandson. She currently has five dogs, three Jack Russells and two lab mixes.

Melissa Stinnett is our bather. She has been married to Bob for 2 years. She has been working with animals for one year and just loves it. She lives in Sweetwater, TN and has two dogs named King and Liberty. She also loves to drag race and ride horses.

Amy Breuker is a receptionist at the hospital. She is a recent transplant to the Knoxville area from West Michigan. She holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations with a Spanish minor from a Michigan university. She has had a profound love for animals from a young age and has raised dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, chickens and quail. Her one true love is training and riding horses. Amy lives with her husband on twelve acres, which they share with Rumsey the cat and two rescued dogs, a Siberian husky named Noni and an Australian cattle dog mix named Rowdy. Her hobbies include hiking and exploring the outdoors with her husband and dogs, horseback riding and playing softball.

Jessica Weaver is a part time receptionist. She is originally from Maryville and now calls Clinton home. She has had a love for animals ever since she can remember. Her biggest loves are dogs and horses. She shows and trains dogs in obedience, agility, and conformation competitions. The love of her life is her 12 year old champion Australian Shepherd. She also has 2 Pembroke Corgis and a German Shepherd. She is an active member of the Oak Ridge Kennel Club, and shows in both AKC and NADAC events. Jessica lives with her husband in Clinton and dreams to one day have a farm with horses. |
